BYDS
initiates arts and cultural programs to create strong and sustainable
communities in the Bankstown area. Since 1991 BYDS has instigated and
run over a hundred distinct projects that have brought together
thousands of people at screenings, launches, events and performances
covering every kind of art and cultural pursuit. We are located at 6-8
Bankstown City Plaza, in Hackett House.

BYDS has received funding from Bankstown Sports Club to work with three young students from Bankstown to develop their writing and editing skills. This will result in a publication of the work of these students titled, Three Novelettes. Click HERE for more. |

BYDS' ConnectED Artist in Residence program has completed its first term with great feedback from the teachers at Sir Joseph Banks and Bankstown Senior College. Click HERE for more. |

View the latest work from emerging and professional writers and artists of Western Sydney on the new and improved Westside Lonely Page. This month's collection include: Rare and unpublished works from the students of RAS, and Notoriously Violent, an essay by UWS Psychology graduate, Wael Kabbara, which examines perceptions of violence in Western Sydney.

Since 2009, BYDS publications have been printed by Ligare Pty Ltd. During the July school holidays, BYDS staff took Samantha Hogg (Westside Publications Intern) and Dorothy Kamal (Youth Week Writing Competition, Outstanding Jr. Award Winner) to Ligare for a tour of the printing press.
