Bankstown Bites

Bankstown City Council held the inaugural Bankstown Bites Food Festival on the 25th June 2005 in the Old Town Centre Plaza.

BYDS was commissioned by Bankstown City Council to organise both ‘street’ and stage performers for this high profile event that ran from 10.00 am until 4.00 pm. The event was an great example of the kind of project that BYDS can execute at short notice.

The theme of Bankstown Bites was ‘multicultural’ and over the day performers who originally hailed from the Cook Islands, China, Africa, Turkestan, Bosnia, Vietnam, India and local young people from diverse backgrounds all performed to a large, appreciative audience.

The street theatre component of the day included: the ‘lost brides’, the awesome ‘9 lives’ le Parkour/martial arts exponents, Keith Lim’s food sculptures, Hybrid Formz break dance group and BYDS own youth theatre group.

Bankstown Bites was so successful that Bankstown Council will hold the event again in 2006 on Saturday the 23rd September. Once again BYDS will be presenting the street and stage entertainment for this unique festival.
