Using a combination of headphone-verbatim, audio-scripting and intense physical training, I'm Your Man will explore notions of masculinity, courage and respect. Armed with her trusty audio-recorder, director Roslyn Oades will follow two high-profile professional boxers (and their community of friends, family, lovers & trainers) through their preparation for a big fight, the fight and the aftermath.

A sweaty, energy-fuellled study of a contemporary masculine drama, I'm Your Man will situate the audience in the moment, at the centre of the action.

Roslyn's previous works include the critically acclaimed Stories of Love & Hate (Urban Theatre Projects, 2008) and Fast Cars & Tractor Engines (UTP, 2005). I'm Your Man is the final piece in a trilogy on acts of courage and continues Roslyn's long-term collaboration with consultant/collaborator Tim Carroll (director of BYDS) and performer/collaborators, Mohammed Ahmad and Katio Molino. The talented Bob Scott also returns as sound designer and we are excited to announce the addition of movement director, Lee Wilson, who will lead the physical realisation of the project.

I'm Your Man is currently in research & development stage at BYDS. Our first creative development workshop is scheduled for November 2010. This project is made possible through the generous support of Company B's B Sharp creative development program and its partnership with the Macquarie Group Foundation, the Australian Government through the Australian Council for the Arts, its arts funding and advisory body and Bankstown City Council.
