Suburban Masala

Suburban Masala was a very successful theatre based project that was instigated by BYDS.

It was coordinated, designed and facilitated by well known CCD exponent Vandana Ram, utilising the directorial skills of Cicily Ponnor and the skills of the many participants.

It was the very first CCD based project involving young people of South Asian origin in Australia.

Indian Home Diner and the CCD Cuisine were provided by Artwork Magazine. A year later Urban Theatre Projects picked up the ideas behind this project, expanded it and created a much larger production called India@oz.com.sangam. This production resulted in a sold out season at the Parramatta Riverside theatre as a part of Carnivale in 2003.
