The Pizza

Johnny Tran and Michael Mohammed Ahmad have become Bankstown’s first successful applicants in the most recent round of the NSW Film and Television Office (FTO) Young Filmmaker Fund. This funding brings together two of BYDS’ most accomplished artists, matching their particular skills in an innovative way.

Johnny Tran, director and Michael Mohammed Ahmad, writer will have the opportunity to launch their professional careers in the NSW film industry with the $30, 000 grant in their screen production drama titled ‘The Pizza’.

The two emerging local artists will portray intimate portraits of the Bankstown community with this film production. “The pizza is a story which explores complex interrelationships between families and communities and the breakdown of those relationships.” Michael Mohammed Ahmad said.

Four applicants were chosen for this round of the NSW FTO Young Filmmaker Fund which was open to filmmakers from all over Western Sydney and regional NSW.

“The four projects selected represent an exciting mix of cultures, experiences and ideas” said Linda Tizard, Head of Development and Investment at the FTO.
