Westside Junior 09: Your Mum

The Launch of Westside Junior titled Your Mum was a great way to celebrate Mother's Day, as many of the Bankstown residents discovered when visiting Centro Bankstown last Sunday, May 10.

Westside Junior is the first publication produced by BYDS which showcases an ensemble of artwork from the younger generation of talented Western Sydney locals.

The theme for the 2009 edition is Your Mum and focuses on stories of love and admiration towards the most beloved women in our lives.

Westside editor Mohammed Ahmed was the MC for the event dedicating this edition to all the mothers of the contributors to Your Mum, praising their strength and wisdom.

Both guest speakers Maha Abdo, President of the Australian Muslim Women's Association and Tania Mihailuk, the Mayor of Bankstown highlighted Mohammed's words of gratitude as they spoke of their experiences of motherhood and their support for the publication.

We congratulate all contributors to Westside Junior.

Copies of Westside Junior can be purchased at Angus and Roberstons, Bankstown for $5.

All contributors receive a complimentary copy.

Former Prime Minister Kevin Rudd was also able to enjoy the Westside Junior magazine when he met some of the BYDS team during a visit to Bankstown in 2009.
