Yiayia's Journey

U-PlayYiayia's Journey was launched at Hackett House on Saturday 10th November! Dr Panayiota Nazou of the University of Sydney (Modern Greek Studies) delivered a stirring and inspiring speech about the importance of story-telling. The Bankstown Greek Older Women's Network performed traditional dances and Bankstown Mayor, Tania Mihailuk was also present at the launch along with many local residents.

Yiayia's Journey is a patchwork of local Greek women's migration memories and experiences. Written in both Greek and English,Yiayia's Journey is designed to be read by Grandmothers (Yiayiades) to their grandchildren, but will certainly appeal to all ages and cultures.

Illustrated by Petros Hovaghimian, compiled & edited by lina Kastoumis and brought to you by BYDS and The Bankstown Greek Older Women's Network, Yiayia's Journey is a delightful creation which BYDS hopes to emulate with other migration groups in the area.

If you are interested in viewing or buying a copy of Yiayia's Journey, please contact lina Kastoumis at lemontree@mail2me.com.au or phone BYDS on 9793 8324.
