Youth Theatre Initiative

James Winter worked at BYDS over a six month period, from mid 2005, running a series of theatre skills workshops with local young people.

These workshops manifested into a fantastic performance by twelve local young people from a variety of local high schools in November 2005.

The title of the show was ‘bling’ and sought to examine notions of celebrity, consumerism and modern culture through a series of self devised scenes.

The show itself took place on level seven of the Greenfield parade car park.

James is well known for running a series of theatre workshops with Sudanese refugees in Egypt in 2004 as part of an Australia Council for the Arts funded program, ‘Out and About’.

This project was funded through Arts NSW.
